Out Of Darkness Into The Light

Mark 8
22 Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him.
23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.
24
trees, walking.”
25 Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

To a great extent, those of us who have been touched by the masters hand and have been given sight should be able to understand that great joy that this man will have felt as the great healer touched his eyes and gave him sight. We are like this man at Bethsaida, we too are blinded, we truly are and we do not see the things around us until the Savior takes us by the hand and puts his hand on our eyes and gives us the sight we so desperately need, to see the state of things around us. How can we walk in darkness and expect to see the things around us for what they really are? Do we not need the light to flood a dark room in order for us to see clearly our surroundings? We all walk in darkness and cannot see anything until we call on him who is the light and when his light comes in and surrounds us, the darkness has no other choice but to flee.

Acts 3
14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

We also denied the Holy one and clung to a murderer. Christ says the enemy is a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth but because we lived for this world, we chose this murderer and denied the Holy one and to us was given this relentless master who closed our eyes to everything around us. We chose him and we killed the Prince of life with the endless sins that we piled upon him to bear.

Isaiah 42:18
“Hear, you deaf; And look, you blind, that you may see.

We can have ears but still not hear, we can also have healthy eyes and still not see. Our vision and our hearing ability is only magnified when we submit to Christ and the enemy flees and along with him flee all the lies that surrounded us. We are deaf and blind children when we walk in the flesh, it’s our walking in the Spirit that gives our eyes sight.

Revelation 3:18
I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and  white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

The eye salve represents spiritual insight, discernment, and enlightenment that comes from Christ alone. Just as physical eye salve was used to treat eye infections and improve vision, the spiritual eye salve would heal their spiritual blindness and help them see clearly.

Isaiah 42:16
I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them.

As Saul was blinded by the god of this world the light of the world surrounded him there on the road to Damascus. We might not have a Damascus experience but when we see how we were going against God and he opens our eyes, then we should and will with Saul ask our Lord, what do you want me to do? Our whole world shifts when Christ gives us sight and in us springs up a desire to work in his vineyard. Christ places in our hearts a desire to save other souls that are perishing in darkness.

Acts 9
6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

God sent Ananias to lay hands on Saul and after he said “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:17

When we receive our sight and are filled with the Holy Spirit only then can we see the bitter reality that surrounds us. I don’t think I will ever forget the time when Christ peeled the scales from my eyes. It felt like I had been living under a mountain of rocks and it’s almost too overwhelming to see all the lies that surround’s this world. The time I realized I had spent my whole existence going against the one that gave up his life for me is a time that I don’t think will ever be erased from my memory. I couldn’t believe how blind I had been and it felt like it was all a dream. This man’s vision was not all that great when his sight was being restored and when Jesus asked if he saw anything he mentioned that he saw men like trees walking so Jesus reached out again and put his hand on his eyes and made him look up and he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

That’s similar to what I experienced, at first when he reached out to restore my sight I only saw dimly the lies that surrounded me but as his word gave me light and I looked up and away from this earth I saw more and more clearer the reality of the lie I had been living. I felt restored and if this isn’t the greatest form of healing that there is then I don’t know what is. To be awakened by his word through his Holy Spirit. To have the master touch your eyes and restore you is the most precious experience that we will ever have as pilgrims walking this dark earth. We need to look up as this blind man did and receive sight from the one who longs to restore our sight.

Isaiah 42
7 To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

The enemy holds us captive and we are prisoners that sit in the darkness of his prison house. It is God’s desire to bring us out from this prison house and open up our eyes as he opened the eyes of Paul. The only way that can be done is through the truth.

John 8:32
“‭And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Many people think that freedom is being able to do everything that the flesh wants to do and having no one stand in their way but this isn’t so. True freedom is when Christ takes the chains that had us bound and he breaks them in pieces and leads us from the enemies prison. True freedom is when we no longer walk in the flesh because that makes us a captive. True freedom is walking in the Spirit and this is when a peace and happiness like the heart has never known, is placed upon our heart. This is the gift that each individual will receive from our everlasting Father, the prince of peace.

Romans 12:2
“‭And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Our mind has to go through a renewing and as our mind let’s go of the master that captivated our mind, God will stand by our side and his light will shine on us and bring continual renewing to our mind.
