The Bible, A Perfect Guide

The Bible, A Perfect Guide

As we know, Moses did not have the luxury to remain in the sheltered care of his childhood home. By unfortunate circumstances he was torn away from home at a very early age. 3 months old was he, when the daughter of Pharaoh walked along the riverside and something among the reeds caught her eye. As she beholds baby Moses in this basket crying, her heart is touched and she had compassion on this baby. She knew that it was a baby that should be dead but then again, it was a baby that God had big plans for. Therefore even though Moses was lying helplessly in the hands of his enemies, God worked upon the heart of this women and she did not hesitate to spare his life.

What would we do in a situation like that? Would our faith in our God be as real as was this women’s faith? Placing her 12 week old baby on the water, knowing that most anything could happen to him. Very well could his enemies have killed him on the spot, but instead they had compassion on Him, desiring to give him the best care that was possible.

This is how quick the tables can be turned, when you are in connection with heaven. Your enemies that want you dead, will look upon you and be filled with compassion, paying your slave mother money so she can feed you and take care of you. The original plan was to kill you but now God has intervened, He has again placed you into the arms of your mother, giving your mother the freedom to care for you as long as it needs.

Deuteronomy 20:4
For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”

Deuteronomy 28:7
The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”

This mothers time with her baby was limited, short was the time that he would be under her care and I imagine she taught him about His Lord in a way that would make the majority of mother’s nowadays feel guilty. She had a limited time to teach him, before he was placed into the guardianship of heathens that knew not the Lord.

 Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

There is no question that she used every spare minute of the day to train up her child in the way that he should go. If she wouldn’t have, who would have taught and directed him, when he was daily surrounded by the pressure of heathen worship, a place where there was no mention of your God, Jehovah? For him to be able to stand as he did, his mother must have trained him with endless prayer and earnestness, with fear and trembling. On her shoulders was a burden that must have been indescribable. To give up your child to a people that were against the God whom you served.

Joseph was older then Moses when he was unexpectedly taken away at the age of 17, to live in a heathen palace and the question again remains, how could he stand true to his God as a teenager, in the midst of constant false worship?  Daniel and his friends were also captives in a land of heathen worship, they were also young men when they were taken to Babylon. There they went through schooling for 3 years, teaching them the literature and language of the Chaldeans, trying to teach them of their ways. They changing their names, trying to shape them, but they were too in love with the ways of God to care about being converted to any other ways.

By the time these men came before these heathen kings there was something hidden deep within these men’s hearts. What was this undeniable treasure hidden within them, that kept them going, keeping them separate from the ways of the majority? Gods word was hidden within their heart, this kept them from sinning against Him. The heart must be preoccupied with the word of God.

Psalm 119
9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
10 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
11  Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

You will not see these young men’s parents written down in the hall of fame. The world will not acknowledge their efforts in raising up faithful men but such parents will there shine like the brightness of the firmament. We must believe, not doubting, grasping the promises of God, as did these faithful men of God.

Daniel 12:3
Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament,  And those who turn many to righteousness  Like the stars forever and ever.
